Starting February off bright

Tonight I painted my nails Essie's California Coral. With the possibility of another ice/snowstorm on the horizon, I need something pretty, bright and spring-ish to look at until spring actually comes!

Lampshade Revamp

I've been looking for new lampshades for my bedside alabaster lamps for a while. Rather than replace the current shades, mother reminded me of how easy it was to use grosgrain ribbon to wrap around the shade. I was very lucky that she found some wide grey ribbon for me to use online- it was quite a steal as well- around $25 dollars for 50 yards of wide ribbon.

I was quite pleased with the turnout.
Supplies needed: Grosgrain ribbon, Scissors, Needle and Thread and clips to hold the ribbon on while you flip it over the shade.

And i thought chivalry was dead...

But this morning I discovered it was in fact, not. As a I had feared, the streets in Georgetown were less than plowed this morning and my car got stuck. like...really stuck. As in crying and pitching a teeny tantrum because as much as I dug I could not get my car to budge! After 20 minutes of this fiasco, a man pulled up and asked if I needed help! Why yes, I did (and a glass of Pinot Noir...) He kindly gave me instructions on how hard to press the gas, which direction to turn etc all while pushing Bonnie Blue up 35th Street.

Thank you, Man in a Navy Blue Suit driving a White X5 for pushing me out of a ditch. You made my day.
Men may always open doors for me.

Snow Day!

In preparation for the rush-hour snowstorm that hit DC tonight, my office sent us home at 1 pm today. Such a treat. I got to read the premier issue of Matchbook Magazine, clean my apt and work on my new decorating project all while listening to Ella. Really cannot complain! Although after tomorrow's commute and digging Bonnie Blue out of the snow I might be singing a different tune...

Chevron Floors

Here at the Small Apartment I thought I was lucky to have hardwood parquet floors in my apartment, but after doing some looking I've decided that Chevron hardwoods are my heart's desire currently. How chic do they look in these parisian apartments? I'd also be quite content with the tres tres chic chandelier below (and the curtains, fireplace and ironwork balcony)... how I do go on.
